We have an excellent working knowledge of all areas regarding tv reception we will know once our assesment is made which aerial and equipment to use.Digital tv through an aerial is more complex than a lot of people can imagine signals can vary a lot even from neighbour to neighbour.Below is some information we have posted to give you an insight into these issues.
Using a signal booster will reduce your TV's immunity to interference. Avoid using them unless absolutely necessary. Using a signal booster with a poor aerial is absolutely no substitute for fitting a good quality, roof mounted digital compatible TV aerial without an amplifier.
If you need to use a signal booster to improve your Freeview reception, by far the best choice is a low noise masthead tv amplifier which is compatible with digital terrestrial tv we fit these as close to the aerial as possible to get the best signal.
Too much signal can have the same effect as not enough signal ie picture break up blocking noise etc.We get called out to numerous customers whom have purchased the incorrect diy aerial for there area thinking that a longer bigger even gold coloured aerial will solve there reception problems.
Freeview television can be prone to electrical interference which can lead to the digital TV picture freezing, with momentary pixelation or total break up. Electrical interference problems will always be worse on a loft aerial.
Freeview Signal Loss in Bad Weather
If a property is surrounded by tall trees or where multi-path reception is experienced, it is not uncommon for Freeview signal quality to go up and down as the trees or aerial move in high winds. Wet leaves attenuate UHF DVB-T multiplex signals even more. If you get a poor Freeview TV signal and have tall trees directly in line to the transmitter, you may get problems with reception dropout under adverse weather conditions. Trees can attenuate the DTT signal considerably especially when leaves are wet.
